Six species of the Riversharks have been introduced so far. They belong to a family Carcharhinidae. The Riversharks are recognized by their short broadly rounded snout, wide nostrils, dark eyes, saw-like upper teeth and jaw.

Following a chronic research and study on marine sharks six species of the Riversharks have been detected.
1-Ganges shark, Glyphis gangeticus
2-Speartooth shark, Glyphis glyphis
3-Irrawaddy River shark, Glyphis siamensis
4-Bizant river shark, Glyphis.
5-Borneo river shark, Glyphis.
6-New Guinea river shark, Glyphis garricki.
