Leopard shark name was bestowed to the sea mammal (Shark )after observing its 7 to 8 fit long size resembling like leopard by its faster speed, activity and slender shape. Being found in the coastal waters of eastern Pacific ocean the Leopard shark is also recognized by its producing a sound like hound.

Unlike other gigantic Sharks the Leopard shark does not feed on the big sea animals like other Sharks, rather it feeds upon smaller marine creatures such as worms, mollusks, crustaceans, octopuses, and small fishes.

Being nomadic by its nature the Leopard shark happens to migrate from one place to another exploring only the suitable temperature like cool and warm. It prefers changes the most, that is why it departs one place after remaining there for sometime to another one with varying temperature. The area which the Leopard sahrk prefers to live in for long include rocky areas, rocky reefs, kelp beds, sandy areas and under piers.

Female Leopard shark produces 5 to 30 pups at a time through its litter after 12 month's gestation period.

Like big other eerie Sharks the Leopard sharks do not dwell deep into the sea bottom and swim around eight to ten feet below the sea water surface and go down deeper up to 300 meter at a faster speed.
