Street Sharks Street Sharks was an animated television series about crime-fighting half-man/half-sharks similar to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It was produced by DIC Entertainment from 1994 to 1995. Later the Street Sharks teamed up with the Dino Vengers (an early and vastly different-in-origin incarnation of the Extreme Dinosaurs) and the show became Street Sharks and the Dino Vengers. Like a number of children's cartoons, it was created to promote an existing toy line of the same name, created by toy maven David Siegel. Zebra shark Zebra sharks are found in the Pacific Ocean, between Japan and Australia and in the Indian Ocean, between the Red Sea and Australia. Zebra sharks live in tropical waters and inhabit sandy or coral bottoms between 0 - 206 feet (0 - 63 metres) deep. They are usually encountered by divers while resting on the bottom and can sometimes be seen swimming slowly (particularly at night). Zebra sharks mainly feed on mollusks, crustaceans, and small bony fish. Their flexible body allows them to work their way into narrow coral channels and crevices to search for food. Zebra sharks live to approximately 9 years when held in small tanks and up to 25 years when held in large aquarium tanks. It is believed that they live to 30 years in the wild. Shark Week The Discovery Channel's Shark Week, which first aired in 1987, is a week-long series of feature television programs dedicated to facts on sharks. Shark Week is held annually, normally running in July or August. During Shark Week 2006, the Silver Spring, Maryland, headquarters of the Discovery Channel was outfitted to resemble a giant shark. In 2000, six million 3D Pulfrich glasses were distributed to viewers in the United States and Canada for an episode featuring an extinct giant shark which had 3D segments. In 2005, Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman from the Discovery Channel series MythBusters hosted Shark Week, and a two-hour MythBusters "Jaws Special" was premiered for the event. In 2006, Mike Rowe from Dirty Jobs hosted, and two Dirty Jobs episodes were featured, titled "Jobs that Bite" and "Jobs that Bite Harder".
