Belonging to animal kingdom the Great white shark is an oceanic mammal found near approximately all the coastal and offshore waters. Being gigantic by its shape and weight it measures 12 to 16 feet and weighs around 680 to 1100 kilograms.
Though the places where they are found generally include southern coasts of Australia, South Africa, California, Mexico's Guadalupe, Central Mediterranean and Adriatic Seas, the Great white sharks are found in abundance around Dyer Island and South Africa as well.
Residing in the sea water Great white sharks prefer to live in the offshore waters having a water temperature ranging from 12 to 24° C. Despite looking looking eerie by their embodiment Great white sharks are watched by the children with their parents enthusiastically. Great white sharks migrate from place to another just after passing their time at one place. They continue their for not more than 100 days in order reach their compatible destination.
Though they are carnivorous they hardly make the human beings their target for the sake of food. There may be incidents of so called onslaught carried out by the Great white sharks on the human beings, but this latter proved to have been done following a curiosity compelling the the Great white sharks to test the human by touching upon it which turned into retaliation and counter attacks between human and Great white shark.
Not attacking the human being does not reveal that the respective sharks are not the hunters. They prey on fish including rays, tuna, and smaller sharks, besides dolphins, porpoises, seals, fur seals, sea lions and sea turtles. Great white sharks are found swallowing the objects but not digesting them easily.
In order to arrange their foods the Great white sharks prefer to target the vulnerable creatures during the early morning, remaining floating on the surface of sea they manage to grab their food target and devour it easily.
Contrary to fact that Great white sharks do not attack on the humans, if attacked, can cut out more than 10 kilograms of flesh putting the victim to death.
Despite being gregarious creature, the Great white sharks do not prefer any encroachment by any intruder. Instead of waging an inside sea battle the Great white sharks warn the intruder by a minor push or bite, which reveals their of living with acute calm.
Though their killing is result oriented from commercial point of view, it has been observed that Great white sharks are mercilessly hunted by the fishermen for the sake of their survival. Due to relentless killing by the coastal fishermen for Great white shark's jaws, teeth, and fins, number of the sharks is declining, in this way compelling the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (C.I.T.E.S.) declaring it one of the extinguishing creature in the world.
Being arbitrary by their nature the Great white sharks can not be kept in captivity. It has been found on putting a shark under captivity that they either die or reach the verge if death.
